Warp vs Factory

Both are about running coding agents rather than typing code with AI help. Warp is a terminal that orchestrates several agents — its own Warp Agent, Claude Code, Codex — and bills their usage at API rates. Factory sells its own agents, Droids, which run locally or in the cloud and span coding, testing, review and deployment. Warp is a place to run agents; Factory is the agent.

§ Quick answer

The short answer.

Pick Warp if you want to mix agents from different providers in one terminal; there's a free plan with bring-your-own inference, and Build ($20/mo) includes agent usage at API rates. Pick Factory ($20/mo per seat) if your team wants one agent platform across the software lifecycle, with options like Zero Data Retention and on-premise deployment.

§ Verdict

Which one should you buy?

Pick Warp if…

you already use Claude Code, Codex or other agents and want one terminal to run them together.

Pick Factory (Droids) if…

you want a single vendor's agents to handle coding through deployment for a team, with strong security controls.

Both bill heavy agent use steeply

Since October 2026 Warp's plans include a dollar amount of agent usage at API rates, so long agent runs burn through Build quickly and Max is the step up. Factory's per-seat tiers scale the same way: Plus and Max multiply Pro's usage, so costs climb fast once a team outgrows Pro. Price a typical week of agent runs before picking a tier.

§ FAQ

Common questions, answered.

Does Warp work with Claude Code?

Yes. Warp orchestrates multiple coding agents, including Claude Code and Codex, in one agentic shell.

Which is cheaper?

Warp is cheaper to start: it has a free plan and Build at $20/mo, while Factory has no free plan and starts at $20/mo per seat. Both have a Max tier for heavy use.

Which is better for teams?

Warp Business ($50/mo per seat, up to 25 seats) adds SAML SSO and your own API keys. Factory's Teams plan covers up to 10 seats, and Business adds SSO, SAML/SCIM, Zero Data Retention and audit logs.
