The honest take

Upload your own sources and get a research assistant that only answers from them — renamed Gemini Notebook in July 2026.

Best for: Students, researchers, and analysts who need grounded answers and audio summaries from their own documents

Where it falls short: Still widely searched and reviewed under its old NotebookLM name; can't be bought on its own — higher limits require a full Google AI Plus/Pro/Ultra subscription
